“EVA PARMENTER QUARTET”

Eva Parmenter is one of the most prominent concertina players in Portugal.

As a performer, and also as a composer, she proposes new paths in the exploration of an instrument traditionally associated with popular music in an era in which stylistic boundaries are becoming increasingly blurred and porous. She has always carried an insatiable thirst for travel, in an endless search for musicians and music from the most diverse origins. Flowing within this healthy restlessness, she has been shaping the framework of her musical identity. In a suspended instant where the bellows are the maestro of the audience’s breathing, a sound journey that blurs aesthetic, geographic and temporal boundaries: music of our world, of the past, the present and the future. Nowadays, in addition to performing solo, she plays with the duo Parapente700, Vagaço Colectivo, Ó Chibinha, Tem.pô, Trio Ronen - De La Fuente - Parmenter, Tugoslavic Orkestar and Baile das Histórias. With these groups she has taken part in countless music and dance festivals as well as in standalone concerts in Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Turkey, China and Brazil.
