about the event
MECHITA is an interdisciplinary piece by Sol Garcia that brings together six women on a mirror stage to work memory as a living archive, freedom, the feminine and the passage between dream and reality. The creation proposes a choral body in resistance to forgetting, in a space of sharing between voice, singularity and collectivity.
The presentation brings together creation and performance by Sol Garcia, Thalia Agapaki, Mercedes Quijada, Inês Luzio and Beatriz Rola, with Andreia Lopes as trainee performer. The artistic team also includes research support, set design and aesthetic universe by Cheila Garcia, dramaturgy by Cristina Planas Leitão, musical composition by Inês Luzio and Beatriz Rola, lighting design by Cárin Geada and costumes by Cacá Otto Reus.
The programme also includes the creative workshop Herança Memória e Corpo Coral, developed from the artistic universe of the piece. The session invites participants with or without dance experience to explore movement, guided improvisation, group composition and excerpts from the choreographic repertoire of the creation, in a meeting centred on childhood, identity, ancestry and the construction of a collective body.
