about the event
In "VIOLINOS PARA A PERIFERIA", the Teatro de Montemuro company sets out from a radical change of direction: it leaves the city, goes to live in the countryside and seeks in this new reality the inspiration to create in a different way. The closeness with the inhabitants of the village of Lugar Benfeito, especially with the young Ana Teresa, will alter the group’s relationship with the place and with its own artistic work.
The show crosses street theatre and music, in a proposal that oscillates between opera and revue, and that insists on the centrality of music as a common language. It is a portrait of a meeting between a group of actors and a rural community, built from a form of expression that is difficult to fix within a single genre.
