Rural Area

With access through the Museum gate, the rural area contrasts with the Museum’s contemporaneity; the property preserves the heritage of the original agricultural quinta. An information kiosk guides the visit throughout Fundação Gramaxo, extending to Casa dos Coches, a space that hosts the Gramaxo family’s horse exhibition. The Eira and Casa da Eira is a multipurpose space where children’s and youth workshops take place, as well as activities for adults or families. It is an exhibition space, where the old agricultural implements are located, currently undergoing conservation work. Casa dos Caseiros and Vacaria are also being refurbished to host future activities. The manor house that holds the Casa Mãe, where the pool, vegetable garden and orchard are also located, remains a private dependency, with access on special occasions.
