Visitas Guiadas

The guided tours of Batalha Centro de Cinema offer a journey through the history, spaces and architecture of the building. Over the course of about an hour, the public is taken through several phases of the life of this venue, from the High-Life cinema of Neves & Pascaud to the contemporary refurbishment designed by Alexandre Alves Costa and Sérgio Fernandez. The visit also includes the construction of the modernist building by Artur Andrade, in 1947, the decorative elements, the censorship of Júlio Pomar’s murals and areas usually invisible to the audience, such as the roof with a view over Praça da Batalha and the projection booths. The visits take place on the first Saturday of each month, in Portuguese and in Portuguese Sign Language, by prior booking, and are led by the Batalha team, with occasional special guests.
