about the event
The Coimbra Municipal Library offers a school holiday programme that fills the months of July, August and September with activities for children and families. The programme includes story hours, creative workshops, educational activities and reading promotion initiatives, taking place at the Casa Municipal da Cultura Children's Library and at the Municipal Branch Libraries of the municipality.
Among the highlights is the Summer Workshops programme, designed for children aged 6 to 9, with sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Children's Library. Each session combines reading, imagination, artistic expression and crafts, with themes such as tales from the garden, animals, elephants, the lake, bats and spiders. These moments are joined by proposals from the Ancient Book Service, such as *Recapitulando*, *Uma Miniaventura na Biblioteca* and *Puxa… que nabo*, as well as the *Missão Arquivo com o Lumi* sessions, led by the Municipal Historical Archive.
In parallel, the Municipal Branch Libraries of Almalaguês, Assafarge, Brasfemes, São João do Campo, Cernache, Ribeira de Frades and Souselas host another edition of Férias Mágicas: ler, ouvir e fazer… tudo pode acontecer!, a leisure-time programme for children aged 6 to 12, with reading workshops, artistic expression and playful and educational activities.
The programme also includes the Summer Sales initiative, which extends the home-loan period and the number of documents available for reading and listening, with special conditions for books, DVDs and CDs.
