We Had Such a Beautiful House

In a seaside village where community, almost magical animals and an ocean full of mystery coexist, everything changes with the arrival of a faceless capitalist force. Felled trees, removed coral and a seawall transform the landscape into a simulation of controlled nature. Faced with this, one inhabitant resists and confronts the developers in a performance by Krisálida (Caminha) and Esquiva Companhia de Dança (Porto), inspired by the photographic work of Gideon Mendel and built with puppets, image and visual poetry.

The creation addresses the climate crisis, the memory of places and responsibility between generations, bringing together performance, movement, voice-over, music and lighting design in a narrative about what is lost when one tries to dominate nature.
