about the event
In its national premiere, Sancha Meca Castro presents *The Ruin is a Tail*, a creation that starts from the idea of archive to think about how memory persists in the body, even when it seems to have already disappeared. The piece explores gesture as living matter, between repetition, fossilization and the discovery of new forms from what has been preserved.
The staging is by Sancha Meca Castro, who also takes on the choreography and stage design. The movement research and performance feature Dora Brkarić, Hannah Badura, Nara Gonçalves, Thalia Livingstone and Sancha herself, in a work supported by sound design by Inês Malheiro, lighting design by Gabriela Clavería and artistic advice by Carly Rose Bedford and Marta Lopes Santos. The production is by Marta Lopes Santos herself, in a coproduction between Teatro Municipal do Porto and Instável – Centro Coreográfico.
After the Friday, October 2 performances, a conversation with the artistic teams is scheduled.
