Augusto Canário, Cláudia Martins e 4 Mens animam Festas de São João Batista em Aião

The Festas de São João Batista in Aião concentrate five days of celebration with popular music, drums, marches, a solemn mass, a procession and fireworks. The programme brings together several moments of community gathering and evening entertainment, with a special focus on Augusto Canário & Marta Azevedo, Cláudia Martins & Minhotos Marotos and 4 Mens. The programme opens with a sardine roast, by registration, and a singing duel. This is followed by the drum competition, the performance by Cláudia Martins & Minhotos Marotos and, the next day, the entrance of the drum group Os Amigos de Caide de Rei for collections around the parish, the departure of the offering parades, the Marchas de São João, the performance by 4 Mens and the fireworks display. The religious programme includes the solemn mass in honour of the patron saint, São João Batista, with a live broadcast on Rádio Região do Basto, the entrance of the Banda de Música de Felgueiras and the majestic procession. The celebrations close with a mass in honour of São João Batista, a performance by the drum group Os Amigos de Caide de Rei and fireworks.
