ANNEA LOCKWOOD

The Serralves Foundation and Porto Pianofest present "Piano Garden", by Annea Lockwood, a central installation in the "Piano Transplants" series. The work begins with a partially buried piano and lets vegetation, the weather, and the passage of time transform it, proposing a listening experience connected to nature, erosion, and decomposition.

Created in 1969, "Piano Garden" stands as one of Lockwood’s most striking sound art pieces, by a pioneering artist who explored sound as living matter. The presence of this installation at Serralves extends the festival into other forms of artistic expression, beyond the usual concert and recital model.
