A national monument since 2012, the Teatro São João stands as a representative place of the culture of the city and the country. The visit offers an intimate contact with the building designed by Marques da Silva, exploring its architecture and history, from the 18th century to the present day. Visitors are invited to tour the entire theatre, from the social areas and auditorium to the technical areas, so as to provide a full understanding not only of the work displayed on stage, but also of how backstage works. The visits include an audio guide in English, French and Spanish, and a video guide in Portuguese Sign Language.
