Visit to the Reservatório

Located in Parque da Pasteleira, in the surprising and magnificent space of a former water reservoir, the Reservatório was rehabilitated in 2017 by the architects Alexandre Alves Costa and Sérgio Fernandez and has a museological project by João Mendes Ribeiro.

The former water reservoir is the place for the materialities and fragments brought by the hands of archaeologists throughout the excavations, a living reserve of these discoveries that bear witness to the making of the city of Porto.

At the Reservatório begins the material axis of the City Museum, as it is the first gesture of showing what is discovered in the excavations, the objects or pieces of objects that are stored, cared for and remain. There is also a cycle that begins here, a movement that goes from the earth, probing those layers of the soil, and returns to the earth, in the last station of the MdC map, Bonjóia - Nature Extension, which will be a sowing ground.
