Visit to Barra Lighthouse

At 62 metres high and 66 metres above mean sea level, Barra Lighthouse is owned by the National Maritime Authority and is part of a military facility that impresses with its grandeur and state of preservation. The guided tour shows this symbol of Praia da Barra and, on days without fog, offers wide views over the Ria de Aveiro, the mouth of the bar, Costa Nova, São Jacinto and Gafanha da Nazaré. The visit is free on Wednesday afternoons, for groups of up to 6 people, with booking on site and on a first-come, first-served basis.
