Vet Talks - Cuidar para conservar: Estão os zoos a ajudar os animais selvagens?

This presentation brings together two perspectives on zoos: can they be essential tools for conservation or are they outdated institutions? The session addresses the controversies linked to animal welfare, to the contribution of zoos to species preservation and to public education, also exploring how these debates influence the future of wildlife protection.

The conversation will be led by Sónia de Jesus Fontes, a graduate of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon, where she completed her thesis on the reproductive management of captive elephants, carried out at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), in Berlin. The session is pet friendly.
