A Japanese Tale

"Um Conto Japonês" starts from the tale "A Árvore", by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, itself inspired by an old Japanese tale, to propose a show for all childhoods. The creation takes the audience through a layered narrative, where a sacred tree on a small island in Japan serves as the starting point for reflecting on the relationship between people, nature, tradition, and the memory of ancestors.

Directed by Fernando Mota and with scenic direction by Tiago Sami Pereira, the play features performances by Miguel Brás and Sílvia Morais/Benedita Mendes. The music and sound design are by Fernando Mota and Tiago Sami Pereira, in a show lasting about 40 minutes and intended for audiences aged 6 and over. The production also includes the building of a musical instrument, costumes, lighting, and set design, in a visual and sensory register designed to engage different ages.
