Sold-out event bringing together two sessions dedicated to the phenomenon of solar eclipses and to observing them safely. On 8 August, at Casa da Baía and at Forte de S. Filipe, Prof. Dr. Máximo Ferreira leads a talk about what a solar eclipse is, why it happens, what the visibility conditions are for the eclipses of 2026, 2027 and 2028, and how to observe the eclipse of 12 August 2026 with simple and safe resources. This is followed by an outdoor workshop, at a point where the Sun can be observed in the same position it will be on 12 August, to try out the practical use of those materials and leave with suggestions for making them at home.
On 12 August, at Forte de S. Filipe, the observation of the solar eclipse is accompanied by music and a tasting of regional products.
