Opened in December 2022 in Bairro de Santos ao Rego, Avenidas is part of the municipal network Um Teatro em Cada Bairro, a group of facilities that serve as local cultural centres and meeting places for the arts and local communities.

This edition highlights a programme that celebrates childhood as a privileged time for discovery, relationships and growth through the arts. Avenidas Bebé Fest returns with events dedicated to babies up to 36 months old and their families, reaffirming the importance of providing unique experiences from the earliest years of life. Through music, dance, theatre and sensory experiences, the festival invites the youngest children to explore sounds, colours, textures, movements and emotions in an environment designed around their own pace and natural curiosity. Each activity is conceived to stimulate the senses, awaken the imagination and encourage interaction between babies and families. At this stage of development, when every gesture, look or sound represents a new discovery, the artistic experience becomes a space for experimentation, communication and emotional bonding. Avenidas Bebé Fest values this relational dimension, creating shared moments that strengthen family ties and bring children closer to the cultural world in a spontaneous and meaningful way, thus contributing to audience development from early childhood and reinforcing the role of the arts in cognitive, emotional and social development. At Avenidas’ invitation, Companhia Maior presents a creative laboratory dedicated to movement and voice, where artistic practice intersects with civic awareness. Through collective creation, listening and bodily expression, this project encourages reflection on each person’s place in the community, demonstrating how art can be an instrument for participation, inclusion and social transformation. Along the way, it tries living in shells, leaves, stones and even nests. In time, the snail learns to value what makes it unique and discovers that being who it is offers true comfort. Throughout the session, different creative approaches will be explored, with the aim of consolidating formal strategies for constructing images. Ages 12 and over Premiere workshops Dance and Voice Creative Laboratory’26 – Uma Cesta, para o Futuro By Companhia Maior 23, 30 SEP | WED | 3pm Companhia Maior is holding a new Creative Laboratory, an open space for the company’s cast and for older people in the city of Lisbon to work with artistic forms of expression attuned to civic awareness. In this laboratory, choreographer Aldara Bizarro and musician Diogo Picão will work on the convergence of dance and voice, with the aim of creating a collective object to launch into the future.
