about the event
In *Ser Diferente é Normal*, the audience encounters a story led by animals that do not match what would be expected of their species: a short-necked giraffe, a mole with wings, an elephant without a trunk, a pelican without legs, an extremely thin hippo, a crocodile without teeth, a bear with long fur, and a lion without a mane. They all live with the feeling of being out of place, useless, and alone.
After a storm brings them together in a cave, the animals share fears, frustrations, and the desire to be like the others. From there, the journey takes a different turn: they realize that they are part of a story and imagine the possibility of contacting their creator to be “corrected”. What begins as a search for normality eventually opens the way to an unexpected revelation.
The show is written by Rui Malvarez, directed by Luís Lourenço, with musical direction by António Andrade Santos, set and costume design by Clivia Cohen, and choreography by Colin Vieira.
