about the event
ROSTOS DA DEMOCRACIA sem CENSURA is a painting exhibition by Mafalda Rocha that revisits resistance to dictatorship and the achievement of freedom in Portugal. The artist brings together documents, censored texts and portraits to reflect on freedom, justice, equality and civic responsibility, with particular attention to the invisibility of women in the struggle against the Estado Novo.
With 51 works of different dimensions, the exhibition transforms the memory of resistance into a presence and a tribute, reminding us that many of the rights now considered natural were won by those who had the courage to confront silence and repression. The opening takes place on 19 September at 16h30. The exhibition can be visited until 15 November 2026, Tuesday to Sunday, from 10h00 to 12h30 and from 14h00 to 17h00.
