Protecting Memory

At Celeiro da Patriarcal, the exhibition "Proteger a Memória – Vila Franca de Xira e o Património Arqueológico e Construído" presents the work carried out by the municipality in the preservation, safeguarding and enhancement of the municipality’s heritage.

The exhibition brings together documents, heritage pieces and archaeological finds to show the process of identification, study and conservation of the cultural assets that are part of the collective memory of the territory. The exhibition route also highlights the diversity of local heritage — immovable, movable, archaeological and intangible — and the way it is integrated into municipal cultural policies.

In parallel, the exhibition includes educational activities for children, with practical and interactive proposals such as "Arqueólogo por um dia" and the "Atelier de Restauro de Peças". These activities are intended for participants aged 6 and over and may be attended by the general public and organised groups, subject to prior registration.
