August Programme of the Municipal Museum

Throughout August, the Coimbra Municipal Museum invites the public to discover the various venues of its museological project and to take part in the Summer Holiday Programme "Tatear e sentir como ponto de partida!", designed for children aged 3 to 12, in a school or after-school club context. The workshops run from Tuesday to Friday, between 10:00 and 16:00, by prior registration, and combine practical and sensory experiences with different themes related to heritage and artistic creation.

At the Chiado Building, "De pincel na mão: aprende a pintar como um pintor naturalista!" focuses on observation, colour mixing and experimentation; at the Almedina Tower, "De pena na mão: aprende a escrever como um monge medieval!" brings back traditional writing techniques and the preparation of medieval ink; at the Anto Tower, "De guitarra na mão: conhece a guitarra de Carlos Paredes!" introduces the instrument through its components, construction and sound; and, at the Inquisition Building, "De Dreidel na mão: descobre este jogo ancestral!" presents the history and cultural significance of this Jewish game, within the framework of the Interreg Jewels Tour project.

The August programme is also linked to visits to the exhibition venues of the Municipal Museum, which marks 25 years of activity, including the Telo de Morais Collection, the exhibition "Contraponto", "Blossom III", "Viajar e Escrever – Coimbra nos séculos XVI a XIX", "Transversalidades – Fotografia Sem Fronteiras 2025", the history of the guitar and Fado de Coimbra at the Anto Tower, and the exhibition about Jewish communities in Coimbra at the Inquisition Building. The Mikveh, inaugurated this year, completes the route.

On 22 August, the fourth Saturday of the month, admission is free to all venues except the Mikveh.
