about the event
At the Serralves Museum, Pedro Henriques presents a selection of the work he developed over about 20 years, bringing together pieces made in sculpture, drawing and prints situated between painting, drawing and industrial engraving. The exhibition brings together works from different series and years, proposing new readings through the coexistence of diverse materials, codes and procedures.
The artist’s practice is presented as an exercise in contradictions: between manual and industrial, gesture and repetition, depth and surface, expressiveness and method. The relationship with technology also appears in tension, through the use of digital tools put at the service of images that question the way images are produced, consumed and circulated today.
The exhibition is spread across three of the four galleries and also includes a lighting system created by the artist himself, designed to run through the entire exhibition route and enhance the reading of the works. This is Pedro Henriques’s first solo exhibition in an institution and his return to Serralves, after having been included, in 2014, among the group of artists presented in the context of the «novobanco Revelação» award.
