The Song of the Forgotten Trees

In *The Song of the Forgotten Trees*, Anuparna Roy signs her first feature film and follows Thooya, an aspiring actress and immigrant in Mumbai, who secretly works in sex work. The story takes on a new dimension when Thooya sublets her *sugar daddy*’s apartment to Swetha, also an immigrant and a *call center* employee, giving rise to an unlikely relationship between two women whose lives are marked by precarity.

As that friendship grows stronger, the film exposes the way the wounds of the past return and call everything into question, in a quiet portrait of identity, intimacy, and survival among people who remain almost invisible to the world around them.
