Medida por medida

*Measure for Measure* begins with the story of Ângelo, who takes advantage of the absence of the Duke of Vienna to impose a harsh rule and condemn Cláudio to death. When Isabela tries to intercede on behalf of her brother, she is confronted with a cruel demand: Ângelo asks for her virginity in exchange for Cláudio’s life.

The creation by Companhia de Teatro de Almada highlights the density of William Shakespeare’s play, written in 1603 or 1604, and focuses attention on themes such as abuse of power, justice, identity, loyalty and betrayal. The staging is by Ignacio García.
