Absent Sea

Mar Ausente brings together photographs taken over nearly two decades about the bacalhau drying sheds found throughout the country. The images follow these spaces in moments of aging and decay, but also reveal their visual fullness and the poetics of ruin. The exhibition proposes a reading of the material and symbolic memory of these places, linked to the built landscape and to a shared identity.
