A bicycle with oars!

Itinerant performance,with Bitocas Fernandes

Xico Alcatruz is a maker of contraptions, who was once a dreamer boatman and, with the passing of time, became a worker in a traveling factory for the creation of "criadilhos", a kind of objects resulting from the unusual mixing of seemingly distinct “things”. Playful and inventive, he creates new forms of interaction, both between objects and between them and people, generating moments of play and musical creativity.

He arrives in a strange vehicle with wheels and a lot of clutter and, when he stops, begins a gradual process of transformation into an equally bizarre boat-carousel, which takes him back to his memories as a river boatman, where he dreamed of traveling on the high seas, discovering the world and its diversity. Always in search of interaction and other ways of inventing, music is his primary language.

Guarda-Pedais is a celebration of the human capacity for reinvention, of the magic present in the simplicity of objects, and of the importance of dreaming big, even when adrift in the vast ocean of life. A unique theatrical experience that blends fun, music, and creativity, inviting the audience to embark on the fantastic journey of Xico Alcatruz and his criadilhos.
