about the event
In her first solo exhibition in Portugal, Frida Orupabo revisits the archive of images she has gathered on her Instagram account and turns it into a critical and emotional space. The exhibition starts from the digital flow to highlight the strangeness of images, their scattered reverberation and the tension between intimacy and violence.
In dialogue with the architecture of MAC/CCB, the exhibition proposes a linear journey of eight moments, echoing the continuous slide between screens that marks the contemporary digital experience. The title refers to the digital cloud where we store images and data, but also to the fog of information, memory and forgetting that results from it. Curated by Marta Mestre.
The public programme includes a conversation dedicated to the relationships between artistic practices, inclusion, participation and the production of counter-archives, with Coletivo MANAS — Grupo de Apoio Mútuo. There is also a guided visit/conversation with the curator and a guided visit/conversation in dialogue with uNa (União Negra das Artes), ColetivoFACA (Andreia coutinho and maribel mendes sobreira) and ícaro lira, focused on the production of images and critical visual thinking on the hegemonic gaze by Black people in the European context.
