Expresso Transatlântico

Expresso Transatlântico brings to MED the trio formed by Gaspar Varela, Sebastião Varela and Rafael Matos, with Gaspar’s Portuguese guitar taking centre stage in a music that is in dialogue with fado and with the present. Great-grandson of Celeste Rodrigues, Gaspar Varela links the project to Amália’s legacy, but the group rejects any reverential reading of the genre. After the EP presented at WOMEX 2022 and *Ressaca Bailada* (2023), the band presents *Trópico Paranoia*, produced by Paulo Furtado (The Legendary Tigerman), in a concert of tension, physicality and festive pulse.
