Exhibition – Journey to the Mediterranean

On view at the Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa between 1 October 2022 and 30 April 2023, the exhibition Journey to the Mediterranean begins with the passage of Infante D. Manuel de Bragança and his entourage through Egypt, where they stayed for 24 days. The show brings together archaeological remains from Ancient Egypt, especially from the Late Period, purchased by Queen D. Amélia and now part of the Palace collection. The route highlights themes such as mummification, funerary cult, amulets and canopic jars, and includes educational fact sheets for several school levels.
