about the event
Praça Manuel Teixeira Gomes hosts an outdoor exhibition dedicated to the history of fishing in Portimão. The exhibition offers a visual journey through the evolution of fishing activity and its connection to local identity.
Among the highlighted themes are the vessels used in sardine fishing, from rowing and steam-powered galleons to diesel-powered trawlers, as well as the former unloading of fish on the quay on the right bank of the river Arade. The exhibition also recalls the definitive move to Docapesca facilities in 1987.
