Document of the Month | Paulo Gouveia: Life and Work of a Postmodern Azorean Architect

Paulo Gouveia is the protagonist of this Document of the Month, which brings together an overview of his life and work based on his relevance in Azorean culture and Portuguese architecture.

The presentation highlights two central dimensions of his career: on the one hand, the role he played in the valorization of signature architecture in the Azores; on the other, the research he carried out on the ordinary architecture of the islands, which led to an identity-based design method that he applied in different geographies. The exhibition also reveals the complexity of a multifaceted personality, beyond the architectural dimension.
