De Bicicleta

In Parque do avião, the open-air cinema screening presents *De Bicicleta*, a 2024 dramedy directed by Mathias Mlekuz. The film follows Mathias and Philippe, two lifelong friends, on a bicycle journey from La Rochelle to Istanbul that begins as an act of remembrance and sharing.

Inspired by a true story linked to the tragic death of the director’s son, the narrative blends the freshness of the road movie with an intimate, human register, centered on resilience, companionship, and the forms of reunion that can emerge from absence. The work was recognized at several festivals, including the Festa do Cinema Francês 2025, the Festival d'Angoulême, the Festival 2 Cinéma Valenciennes, Rencontres de Cannes, the Festival d'Albi, and Ciné des Villes, Ciné des Champs.
