In *Trains*, Maciej Drygas builds a mosaic of images gathered from 46 archives around the world to follow the symbolic journey of railways throughout the 20th century. Without narration, interviews, or testimonies, the film intertwines the beauty of travel, the euphoria of progress, and the elegance of trains with the horror of wars, deportations, and prisoner transports. Rafał Listopad’s editing and Saulius Urbanavicius’s sound design reinforce a powerful portrait of European memory and its contradictions.
