about the event

Café Curto 2026 returns to the Café Concerto of Convento São Francisco with an expanded programme focused on emerging music and on bringing together artists, the community and different cultural partners. The sessions take place on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m., with free admission subject to room capacity, and the programme is paused in July and August.

This year's edition also marks the 10th anniversary of the cultural venue and strengthens the journey of the cycle, which began in a pandemic context and has already branched into sub-cycles such as Café Duplo, MIC – Música Independente de Coimbra and Café Longo. Curated by Blue House, co-produced by Convento São Francisco and funded by Câmara Municipal de Coimbra, the project deepens its relationship with the local and national artistic scene.

Among the new features in 2026 are the partnership with Festival Emergente, which guarantees five dates dedicated to new talents selected through a national open call, and the work with the Curso Profissional de Jazz da EACMC, through artistic residencies with public presentation. MIC also includes an intensive mentoring programme with training entities in the city.

In the first announced sessions, the cycle presents Joana Guerra and Miguel Gouveia, in a combination of musical creation, improvisation and literary mediation, and welcomes Marta Lima, a singer-songwriter who has established her place in new Portuguese music with the debut EP *Murmúrio* and the second EP *Postal em Branco*. Throughout the year, Café Curto connects with other cultural events in Coimbra and adds up to more than forty sessions.
