Cork: Raw Material for Mundet's Factories

This long-running exhibition interprets and presents the industrial heritage and museological collection preserved in the Boiling Room Building of the former Mundet cork factory in Seixal. The exhibition highlights the work of preparing the raw material carried out there and follows the journey of cork from the stripping campaign in the cork oak forest, through the manufacturing process, to the export of the boards in bales to various destinations.

The initiative was opened on 24 May, as part of Maio Património and International Museum Day, with a session between 14:30 and 16:00. It is part of the Museum Support Programme of the Portuguese Museums Network, ProMuseus 2023, and is intended for the general public.
